Dowdy, Minnie Martin

Minnie Martin Dowdy, age 97, of Blacksburg died, Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Lewis Gale Hospital- Montgomery. She was born in Montgomery County, Va. on February 19, 1914 to the late Zoome and Lilian Linkous Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Ribble Dowdy, and a son Billy Dowdy, three brothers, Charlie, Hildred, Daniel, two sisters, Ella and Icey.

She was a lifelong member of Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She is survived by her: Son and Daughter-in-Law: Mitchell and Ruth Dowdy, Blacksburg; daughter-in-law; Lola Dowdy, Blacksburg; Granddaughter: Fay Quesenberry and husband, Maynard, Blacksburg; Grandson: Robert Dowdy, Blacksburg; two Great-Grandchildren: Mitch Dowdy and wife, Bonnie, Blacksburg; Angela Raines, Riner; two Great-Great Grandchildren: Lauren Dowdy, Austin Dowdy; special friends, John and Frances Cupp, Betty Jo Dowdy, Larry Dowdy, Charlotte Matusevich, and Buford Dickerson; Many other special friends, special thanks to the nurses and staff on the 2nd floor.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 1, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor R.D. (Doc) Vaught, Rev. Glennard Quesenberry, and Rev. Jerry Sloss officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Christiansburg.
