Dowdy, James Howard

James Howard Dowdy, age 80, of Pilot died, Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Lewis Gale hospital-Montgomery. He was born in Montgomery Co., Va. on October 1, 1933 to the late Claude Thomas and Viola Robinson Dowdy. He is preceded in death by three sons, James Alvin Dowdy, Howard Wayne Dowdy and Charles Timothy Dowdy.

He is survived by his wife, Gladiolu Barker Dowdy, son, Craig Steven Dowdy, both of Pilot, sister, Juanita Dowdy Sage and husband James W., of Blacksburg, five grandsons, Christopher, Justin, Matthew, Tyler and Dustin, three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Noah and Lillian, special friends, Bobby and Leoda Cook, of Pilot, numerous extended family members.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 2:00pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Davey Whitlock and Pastor Earl Hanks officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00pm Monday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.
