Dowdy, James Albert
James (Jimmy) Albert Dowdy, 66, of Pulaski, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born February 21, 1942, in Galax and was the son of the late Lena Alley Dowdy and Albert Dowdy.
He was a retired self employed auto body repairman having worked for several businesses in the New River Valley. Jimmy was Methodist by faith, and was a former member of the Pulaski Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn LaRue Dowdy, of Pulaski; a son, Scott Dowdy and his wife, Carolyn, of Salem; four daughters, Lisa D. Light and her husband, Michael, of Salem, Christine W. Hodge, of Dublin, Stacy D. Hodge, of Pulaski, and Sandra D. Goodwin and her husband, Mickey, of Christiansburg; four stepchildren, Charlene Baker and her husband, Jeff, of Roanoke, Scott Mollette, of Pulaski, Ernest Joe Mollette, of Dublin, and Terry R. Mollette, of Dublin; a sister, Janet D. Weber and her husband, Jerry, of Lexington, S.C.; and sixteen grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2008, at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons with the Rev. Wayman Creger officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin.
