Dowdy, Irvin Junior

Irvin Junior “June” Dowdy, age 77, of Christiansburg, died, Monday, October 11, 2021 at New River Valley Medical Center. He was born in Christiansburg, VA on July 5, 1944 to the late Irvin Thomas and Bertha Ellen Cook Dowdy. He was also preceded in death by his great-grandchild, Hayden Quesenberry; father-in-law, Bud Thomas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and James Jones, Brenda and Lewis Dowdy, Pat Reed, Gayle and Sidney Noonan, Sue Wirt.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Charlene Thomas Dowdy; daughters and sons-in-law, Tracy and Chris Smith, Cheryl Hudgins (Steve), Tami and Calvin Hall; grandchildren, Josh and Brooke Quesenberry, Amber and Jared Flesher, Michelle and Ben Forbes, Brandon and Sara Earles, Spencer Earles (Candace); ten great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Suzie Dowdy; mother-in-law, Kathleen Thomas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frankie Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service at McCoy Funeral Home Blacksburg.
