Dowdy, Earl Jenice

Earl Jenice Dowdy, 71, of Blacksburg, died Monday, April 23, 2012, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. He was born in Christiansburg on September 10, 1940, to the late Lawrence and Della Cooper Dowdy. He was also preceded in death by his infant daughter, Janice Marie Dowdy, and infant son, Earl Jr.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy F. and Bobby Richeson, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., son, Jason R. Dowdy, of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; grandchildren, Sara Richeson, Paul Richeson, Corey Frazier, Kyle Mullins, and Jacob Mullins; great-grandchild, Mya Frazier; sister, Betty Stover, of Christiansburg; and brother, Nelson Dowdy, of Floyd.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dewey O. Weaver Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Dowdy Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
