Dowdy, Billy Kent

Billy Kent Dowdy, age 76 of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 22, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kent and Lena Sowers Dowdy and sisters, Annie Bradberry, Faye Smith, Mollissa Hall, Weeda Bradberry, and Shelvie Jean Dowdy.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janet Howery Dowdy; daughters, Tina McCoy of McCoy, Angie Harless (Doug) of Christiansburg, Rhonda Huff (Tony) of Pilot, and son, Richard Dowdy (Sarah) of Christiansburg; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brothers, Jimmy Dowdy of Christiansburg, Russell Dowdy of Christiansburg, and sister, Betty Mae Waldrop of Alexandria.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 25, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with ministers Jerry Dowdy and Beaver Terry officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11-1 p.m. prior to the service.
