Norma Douglass, 80, formerly of Blacksburg, Va., died Friday, April 10, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Feral Ryals, and her son, Scott Douglass. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Wells, Charlottesville, and Nancy Douglass Allen, Roanoke; granddaughters, Valerie Bramlett, Emily Pura, and Christine Allen; as well as grandson, PFC Nathan Allen, USMC. In addition, she is survived by two great-granddaughters, Daisia Payne and Lillien Pura; as well as great-grandson, Reilan Pura.

Norma’s life work included many years of service to Coca Cola Co., Atlanta, Ga. and New River Valley Association for Mentally Retarded Citizens, Blacksburg, Va. She distinguished herself as a Virginia Delegate to the National Democratic Party Convention, 1976, and supported her son’s involvement in President Carter’s presidential campaign by hosting a successful fundraising event attended by Rosalyn Carter.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Golden Living Center, Shenandoah Valley, Buena Vista. Arrangements by Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Service, Buena Vista.
