Doughton, Kenneth Carroll

Kenneth Carroll Doughton, age 83, of Christiansburg died Sunday, February 22, 2015, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. He was born in Bluefield, WV on July 13, 1931 to the late Arlon and Mary Buchanan Doughton. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Burton, his brothers, Arlon Doughton, Jr. and Charlie Doughton.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the US Navy. He was a salesman for a large distributor for 18 years and then began his own business, Doughton’s Inc. and ran it until his retirement in 1995.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Emma R. Doughton; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Randall Lester, Blacksburg; sons and daughters-in-law, David Carroll Doughton and wife, Judy of Roanoke, Kenneth Charles (Chuck) Doughton and wife, Judy of Henderson, NV, Christopher Shea Doughton of Pittsburgh PA; son-in-law, James Burton of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Joshua, Cory, Kyle, Michael, Jennifer, John Reid, Garrett, Emily, Laura Leigh, Caitlin, Christian, Ryan, Heather; great-grandchildren, Cooper Jameson Lester; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Efonda Doughton of Bountiful, UT; sisters-in-law, Maxine Doughton of Deland, FL, Joan Doughton of Bluefield, WV.

Funeral Mass will be conducted Friday, February 27, 2015 at 10:00 am in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Father Remi Sojka officiating. Graveside will follow on Friday at 2:30 pm in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluefield, WV.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1205 Old Mill Road, Blacksburg, VA. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Thursday evening with a prayer service at 7:30 pm at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., SW, Blacksburg, VA.
