dotson vernerVerner Dotson, age 83 of Pulaski passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 in the Lewis Gale Hospital-Pulaski. Born April 18, 1928 in Elk Creek, Virginia, he was the son of the late George Walter Dotson and Patty Coleman Dotson. His brothers, John D. Dotson, Sid Dotson, Junior Dotson, & sisters; Vernie Harden, Hazel Large, Nora Amburger, Flora Reedy, Cora Vanover, and Thelma Mullins also preceded him in death.

He was retired from Clinchfield Railroad and Clinchfield Coal with 44 years of service. He was a member of the Clinchco Freewill Baptist Church – Clinchco, VA.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years- Dorothy Turner Dotson-Pulaski. Daughter & Son-in-law- Judy & Jerry Thomas-Dublin. Son &Daughter-in-law- Richard & Carolyn Dotson-Radford. Grandchildren- Mickey Thomas (Nikki)-Christiansburg, Robin Mitchell (Max)-Dublin, Melissa Farmer (Terry)-Pulaski, Richard Dotson II (Jessica)-Thomasville, NC. Great Grandchildren- Garrison and Hunter Thomas-Dublin, Jared and Meredith Mitchell- Dublin, Morgan Farmer-Pulaski, Anisten Dotson-Thomasville, NC, Tommy Darr-Christiansburg. Pallbearers- Richard Dotson II, Mickey Thomas, Jared Mitchell, Garrison Thomas, Hunter Thomas, Tommy Darr, Max Mitchell and Terry Farmer.

Funeral services will be held Monday 1:00 p.m. in the Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski with Pastor Aaron Smith & Rev. Judy Younce officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Bower Funeral Home.
