Dobbins, Philip Ross

Philip Ross Dobbins, 52, of Blacksburg, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 6:30 a.m. at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was born in Christiansburg, Va., on September 6, 1954 and was preceded in death by his father, Walter Albert Dobbins and a brother, Wallace Dobbins.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Kozar Dobbins of Blacksburg; his mother, Clara Cooper Dobbins of Blacksburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Weston and Lace Dobbins of Dublin; daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Avery May of Prices Fork; son and fianc�e, Philip Ray Dobbins and Brandy Dove of Blacksburg; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanie and Zach Shumate of Blacksburg; daughter, Lisa M. Burton of Louisville, Ky.; seven grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Perry and Vera Dobbins of Blacksburg and Teny and Ilene Dobbins of Indiana; half brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Jolene Henry of Maryland; and one nephew and two nieces.

Philip will be remembered for doing his own stunts and training his own horses.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 19, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the James Bane Price Cemetery, Prices Fork with the Rev. Raymond Bell (Senior Pastor of the Cowboy Church of Virginia) officiating. Any friends and families who would like to attend will be more than welcome. There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
