Helen Jackson Dobbins, 87, of Roanoke, and formerly of Pulaski, died on Thursday, September 8, 2011, in Friendship Health Care Center in Roanoke. She was born on November 24, 1923, in Pulaski, and was the daughter of the late Mary Guynn Jackson and Chester Blair Jackson Sr. Helen was a retired employee of the Pulaski County School Board, where she served for 43 years as clerk of the school board, and was a member of the Pulaski County Retired Teacher’s Association. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kemper Scott Dobbins; and a brother, Chester Blair Jackson Jr. She is survived by a sister, Betty J. Carper and her husband, Ike, of Roanoke; nephews, Isaac Blair Carper, of Atlanta, Ga., and Michael Chad Carper and his wife, Julie, of Herndon; and a sister-in-law, Eileen Frost Jackson, of Pulaski. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2011, at Seagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Edmunds officiating. Visiting will be held on Saturday from noon until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Thornspring Cemetery.
