Dobbins, Ethel Bell

Ethel Bell Dobbins, formerly of Bedford, Va. and Blacksburg, Va., departed this life the morning of November 20, 2007. She was born October 27, 1913, the oldest daughter to Robert and Alice Bell of Bedford, Va. After moving to Blacksburg, Va., she met and married the late Rice Dobbins, Sr. and to this union four sons were born, Harold R. Dobbins (Geraldine), John I. Dobbins, Sr. (Gloria), Glenwood R. Dobbins (Margaret) and Rice Dobbins, Jr. (Wyomia). In later years she moved to Washington, D.C. to be with her sons.

She is survived by her sons; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one brother; five sisters; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law; and numerous family and friends.

A wake will be held on November 26, 2007 at St. Paul AME Church from 5 to 8 p.m. and on November 27, 2007 final services at Blacksburg United Methodist Church. Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial in Blacksburg Cemetery.
