Dixon, Lizzie G. Henry Smith

Lizzie G. Henry Smith (Boots) Dixon, of Blacksburg, was born on June 29, 1937, in Kilsyth, W.Va. to the late Thomas W. Henry and Lizzie B. Asher. She is preceded in death by three brothers, William, Frank, and Thomas.

She attended public schools in Beckley, W.Va. She then moved to Bronx, N.Y. and married the late Robert Randolph Smith. She worked as a teacher at P.S. 34 School in Bronx, N.Y. and retired after 25 years of teaching. She then moved back to Beckley, W.Va. She remarried to the late Manuel L. Dixon while attending Nursing School, and held a job at Raleigh General Hospital as a Registered Nurse. She is survived by her children, Alice Gail E. Smith Mayweathers and Robert Edward Smith; and a host of grandchildren; great- grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2013, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive from friends from 2 p.m. until service time at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
