dillon mckinley lee jrMcKinley Lee (Whitey) Dillon Jr., “Breaker Breaker, you got the Crooked Nail here, taking this rig up the road on its last trip. Most people knew me by “Whitey”. I started driving when I joined the Marine Corps during the Korean War. After I was discharged, I met the love of my life, Carol, who would become my wife and bless me with my only child, my princess, Patty. I drove for O’Boyle as well as several other Lines, but for the past 30 plus years my passion was operating “Whitey’s Knives” at Happy’s Flea Market. I really loved that place because I got to meet so many people throughout the valley. Oh, well, how time seems to fly. I’m getting ready to park this rig, clock out and meet up with Carol at the rest stop just up the road, gosh how I’ve missed her. OK, you got the Crooked Nail signing off, over and out.” Whitey passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012. He was born in Giles County on December 30, 1930, to Gracie Wickline Dillon and McKinley Lee Dillon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Carol Dillon. Surviving are his only daughter, Patricia D. Weekly; son-in-law, Richard Weekly; his adored grandson, Joseph McKinley Weekly; brother, Alfred Dillon, all from the Roanoke area; and sister, Alice “Skeeter” Lyden, of Belaire, Ohio. Special thanks to Dr. Gary Glontz, Aunt Susie for her care of Whitey during his illness, and the Gentle Shepherd Hospice staff. Service and celebration of Whitey’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Lotz Funeral Home, 1001 Franklin Rd. SW. 540-982-1001.
