Dillon, Harvey Eugene
Harvey Eugene Dillon, age 62, of Ballard, WV, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at the Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem, VA. Born June 14, 1956, he was the son of Gerlene Dillon and the late Harvey Lee Dillon.
Gene was married to his loving wife, Rebecca “Becky” Wood Dillon for 18 years. He was employed by UTC Aerospace shortly after high school in 1975 and worked there for 43 years. He had a special love for his family and touched the lives of many he came in contact with. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, driving his Jeeps, and woodworking, but his special love was his family, and he will be forever missed.
In addition to his wife and his mother, those left to cherish his memory includes his children: Jenifer Cornwell and husband Woody of KY, Daron South and wife Erin of Pearisburg, VA, Brian South and wife Katrina of Lindside, WV, Rodney South and fiancé Diana of Glen Lyn, VA, Kimberly Meadows and fiancé Mark of Pearisburg, VA, Chris Dillon and wife Brittany of NC; thirteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one deceased grandchild. Also surviving are two brothers, Ronnie Dillon of Peterstown, WV, and Scott Dillon and wife Nancy of Narrows, VA; five sisters, Nancy Ford and husband Henry of Bozoo, WV, Sharon Shelton and husband Jeff of Lindside, WV, Rita Fleeman and husband Marty of Narrows, VA, Kim Wiley and companion Mike Scott of Peterstown, WV, and Teresa Johnson and companion Michael Canterbury of Peterstown, WV; sister-in-law, Mary Trier and husband Ed of FL; and brother-in-law, Buddy Wood.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 18, 2019, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Reverend Paul Terry and Pete Dunford officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Memorial Gardens in Lindside, WV. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at the funeral home.
