Dickerson, William Ray

William Ray Dickerson, 91, of Ellett, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at Heritage Hall Health Care Center. He was born in Floyd County, Va., on March 18, 1920, to the late William Mullen and Sallie Pearl Reed Dickerson. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Blanche Lorraine Hall Dickerson. He was veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army. He was retired from the Power plant at V.P.I. & S.U. with 34 years of service. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Henry R. and Diane Dickerson, and Mike and Shirley Dickerson, all of Blacksburg; five grandchildren, Gretchen Alexander, Heather Linkous, Christie Dickerson, Ginger Dickerson, and Leslie Dickerson; three sisters, Beulah Grissom, of Christiansburg, Jane Lane, of Richmond, and Betty Crouch, of North Carolina; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2011, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Olen Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in the North Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, Ellett. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening, November 4, 2011, at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
