Dickerson, Tena Yates

Tena Yates Dickerson, 84, of Shawsville, peacefully went with the angels to our Lord, Friday, July 11, 2008. She was predeceased by her husband, Forrest, daughter Rebecca ,and son-in-law, Mike Willis.

Survivors include daughters and spouses, Martha and Tom Pearman, Lisa and Harold Sword, Peggy Willis, Debra Nack; son, Tim Dickerson, all of Shawsville; stepson, Warren and Sandy Dickerson and family, Biloxi, Miss.; a son-in-law, Joe Welcher, of Elliston. Also surviving are sisters and brothers-in-law, Nellie and Ray Epperly, Pilot, Hazel and James Barnett, of Troutville, Ruby Lemon, of Shawsville; a brother, Frank Yates, of Roanoke; a sister-in-law, Blanche Yates, of Shawsville; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Tony and Amy Pearman and Gabe, of Alexandra, Sara and Scott Sisson and Rebekah, Amanda and Kenny Franklin and Kenzie, Frankie and Savannah Sword, Jamie Kay Willis, Forres and Joyce Dickerson and baby Forrest; special friends who gave Tena, Love, Laughter and Wonderful Care, Pat Spear, RN, Dr. William Baker, Dr. Bhairi Trivedi, “We wish to thank you all”.

Thanks to the entire group of nurses, social workers, CNA’s and Chaplain, associated with Medi Home Hospice and the service Tech with Medi Home Health, John Simpson, also Pastor Terry Ross has been a blessing to us all.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Sunday at the Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg, Va. Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2008 at the graveside in Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery, Shawsville, with Pastor Terry Ross officiating.
