Junior (Ray) Dickerson, 77, of Radford, Va., passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009. He was a member of the Dublin First Church of God and retired from Inland Motor/Kolmorgen with over 35 years of service in quality control. He had the patent for windings in a MRI machine. He was also a historian for Radford University and the Selu Conservatory. Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Doris Branson Dickerson, of Radford; a sister-in-law, Brenda Branson, of Dublin; two brothers, Robert Dickerson, of Radford, and Blane Dickerson, of Richmond; and two sisters, Mae Turner, of Tazewell, and Frankie Bane, of Georgia. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2009, at the Dublin First Church of God, approximately a mile West of the speedway on U.S. Rt. 11 West, with Pastor Donald Neace, Pastor David Mumpower and Pastor Edward Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Mission Ministry of Faith Promise, Dublin First Church of God, 6330 Courtney Lane, Dublin, Va. 24084. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
