Dickerson, John Howard

John Howard Dickerson, 84, of Floyd, Va., born December 14, 1924, the son of the late John C. and Eva M. Dickerson, was called home to heaven on April 27, 2009.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 + years, Wanda Blankenship Dickerson; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Debbie Dickerson; five daughters and sons-in-law, Belinda and Early Alderman, Nana and Iven Miller, Judy Dickerson, Wanda Mae and Vergil Hale, and Deborah Dickerson. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Mickey, Barry, Angela, Teresa, April, Angie, Robert, Kevin, Daniel and Alaina; and nine greatgrandchildren with the 10th to be born June 2009; three brothers, George, Bill, and Roy; four sisters, Maxine, Thelma, Ruby and Gloria Mae; and special friend, Freddie Pugh.

John served in World War II in Pearl Harbor. He gave his live to Christ many years ago and was a long time member of Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren. His Lord opened his arms and carried John home, after a long battle with Diabetes. He will be sadly missed by all.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Maberry Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Turpin officiating. Interment to follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
