Linda Sue (Lawson) Detamore of Pembroke, VA, left this life to be with her Savior on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the age of 80 years old. Born in 1944, Linda was one of 14 children born to Louie and Delphia Lawson of Richlands, VA.

Growing up in a large family was both fun and challenging. Like her brothers and sisters, Linda learned the value of hard work from a young age. In 1961 at the age of 16, she married Howard Marilyn (“Mutt”) Sarver of Peterstown, WV. Together they enjoyed raising three children: Robert Sarver of Lindside, WV; Sue Ellen Sarver (Miller) of Bluefield, WV who is engaged to Mark Davis; and David Allen Sarver of Staunton, VA, who is married to Erika Sarver. Their lives together as a military family would take them all over the USA before returning to Monroe County, WV.

Several years later after separating from her first husband, Linda married Tom Detamore of Rocky Gap, VA, and kept his surname after he passed away.

Linda enjoyed working at Celanese in Narrows, and the friendships she made over the years there were precious to her. After her retirement, she performed in-home elder care services for several years.

Linda enjoyed cooking, gardening, and volunteering at Calvary Baptist Church of Pembroke, where she was also a member. But her greatest joys in life were her children and three grand-daughters, Mary Beth Miller (Bright) of Marion, VA, who is married to Julian Bright; Rachel Miller, and Baylee Corner, both of Bluefield, WV. To her children and grandchildren she passed along a strong sense of perseverance and the confidence to believe in themselves.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, several brothers and sisters, and both husbands.

A visitation will be held from 1:00PM until 2:00PM on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV. Graveside services will follow at Peterstown Cemetery in Rich Creek, VA, with J.W. Ellison officiating.
