Christa L. Morehead Denney, 50, of Dublin, died suddenly on Monday, September 10, 2007 in a hospital in Tulsa, Okla. She was born December 26, 1956 in Claremore, Okla. and was the daughter of the late Billye Ruth Maxey Morehead and Donald James Morehead.

Christa grew-up on a ranch in Oklahoma. She completed the Veterinary Technology program at Murry State College in Tishomingo, Okla. and received a Bachelor of Music Degree at the University of Tulsa in 1982 and majored in Classical Piano Performance. She attended the College of Health Sciences in Roanoke, Va. and studied respiratory therapy.

She was a well-known Angus Cattle Producer who bred and showed several national champions in the 1980’s and 1990’s. She was a founding member and officer of the Southwest Virginia Angus Association and also served on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Angus Association. She and her family traveled to 27 countries on six different continents. She and her husband (H.J.) were farmers at their Dublin farm called “Double M. Angus Farm”.

She is survived by her husband Harold J. (H.J.) Denney of Dublin. She is also survived by her cousin, Jane Morehead Bell and her husband, Roger, of Pulaski; her cousin, Iris Ann Ikard and her husband, Frank, of Tulsa, Okla.; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, James and Nancy Denney of Riner; two sister-in-laws, Dr. Jill Denney of Riner and Danielle D. Hale and her two sons, Ethan and Jacob, of Riner; and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 3 p.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons with the Rev. Jean Brown officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 1 until the 3 p.m. service time.
