Dennis, Paul Darr

Paul Darr Dennis, 90, of Pearisburg, Va., went to be with the Lord, Saturday morning, December 9, 2006 at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg.

Mr. Dennis was born on January 19, 1916 in Pearisburg and was a son of the late Edwin D. and Annie Minnick Dennis. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna (Marie) Santolla Dennis, one son, Paul Darr Dennis II, eight brothers, Irvin Hopkins Dennis, Charles William Dennis, Lee Warren Dennis, Samuel Greenwood Dennis, Earnest Dills Dennis, Herman Bayard Dennis, Giles Anderson (Shang) Dennis, Carl Jackson Dennis and two sisters, Lucille Dennis and Edna Dennis Martin.

Mr. Dennis was a retired millwright for the Celanese Corp. in Narrows with 40 1/2 years of service, a full time farmer and loved to play the guitar and sing. Mr. Dennis was also a member of the Thessalia United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Toni Dennis of Pearisburg, numerous nieces and nephews, a special niece, Joyce Dennis of Pearisburg, a special nephew, Jerry D. Martin of Pearisburg and two faithful companions, Blaze and Sunshine.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 11, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Paula Dell Campbell officiating assisted by Charles Henderson, Sr., with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg, Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Giles Rescue Squad, P.O.
