Robert Wilfred Delancey Jr., 54, of Riner, Va., passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2008.

He was born in Roanoke, Va., on December 27, 1953, and was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Lynn. He is survived by his parents, Nancy and Robert Wilfred Delancey Sr.; his wife, Carin Nealon Delancey; children, Melissa Delancey Williams, Lauren, Melanie and Robert Delancey; brother, David Allen; sister, Karen Sue Delancey; and his grandchildren, Michael, Luke, Annie and Lilian.

Bob was past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Chapter of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Winchester, Va., where he started a scholarship later named in his honor. He was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Air Force. Like his father before him, Bob sang, with his reputably beautiful voice, for weddings and baptisms. He was a parishioner of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He loved camping and mountain climbing, and reading the Sunday morning comics. He was a beloved and caring son, father, brother, husband and granddaddy, and he will be missed. He was employed at Danaher Motion in Radford, Va., as a manufacturing engineer.

A viewing will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2008, at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg, Va. On Saturday, July 19, 2008, at 11 a.m. there will be a Funeral Mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Christiansburg, Va. Interment will take place at St. Georges Catholic Church in Tall Timbers, Md.
