armyRobert Leonard DeHaven, of Pulaski, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2013, at his home. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Early DeHaven. He is survived by his wife, Rachael DeHaven, of Pulaski; his mother, Louise DeHaven, of Hillsville; two sons and their wives, Stephen and Shana DeHaven, of Bangkok, Thailand, David and Mary DeHaven, of Fincastle; and five grandchildren, Mitchell, Alec, Sean, Ian, and Kjersten. Born May 1, 1938, in Hillsville, he graduated from Hillsville High School and then attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Following college, he served in the United States Army, and returned from service to care for his family. He was a gifted carpenter, enjoyed woodworking and John Deere tractors. Over 50 years of work, Bob worked at DeHaven & Sons, Inc. and then retired from Industrial Drives of Radford. Bob enjoyed working with youth as bus driver for The Joyful Noise and the Pulaski County High School Band and served in various capacities in local and state pageants. He cherished spending time with his family and friends, especially sitting on the porch at the family cabin. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church of Pulaski followed by interment at the Fariss Family Cemetery in Allisonia. Visitation and viewing will be Friday, October 25, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home in Pulaski. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church in support of the Building Fund. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
