Leon Alden DeHart Sr., 95, a Newport News, Va., resident since 1956, died on Saturday, December 6, 2008. Mr. DeHart was born in Floyd County and was raised in the Roanoke area. Mr. DeHart retired from Amoco Oil Refinery in 1977 and was a member of North Riverside Baptist Church where he attended the Andrew Sunday School class and was known to help in many ways around the church grounds. He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Nancy DeHart; four children, Janice Rae Kibler, Leon A. DeHart Jr., Sandra Jean Jefferson, and KoLeen Kim Cimmento; two sisters, Laura O. Harvill and Imogene O. Farmer; 14 grandchildren, Robert N. Ramsey Jr., Michael A. Ramsey, Billie F. Hetrick, Deidra R. Peterson, Lisa G. Cimmento, Gina L. Cimmento, Nicholas L. Cimmento Jr., Antonia M. Cimmento, Nancy J. DeHart, Ann M. Browder, Allison Kiper, Michelle R. Brandibur, Bobby F. Jefferson Jr., and Stephanie D. Flythe; and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ocie DeHart; three brothers, William L. DeHart, George C. Dehart Jr., and Aaron W. DeHart; and two grandchildren, Kevin D. Ramsey and Dana L. Jefferson. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2008, at North Riverside Baptist Church, Newport News, Va., with Pastor Jerry Haywood and Dr. R. Furman Kenney officiating.
