Hensley, Rudolph Paul
Rudolph Paul Hensley, 97, of Blacksburg, Va., passed away Monday, July 6, 2009, at Heritage Hall, Blacksburg. He was born on November 5, 1911, in Swift Run, Va., to the late Benjamin Paul and Jennie Dean Hensley. He was a long-time member of the Blacksburg United Methodist Church, Hunter’s Lodge #156, AF & AM and Ingles Chapter #96 Order of the Eastern Star. He was employed at Virginia Tech for 37 years in the Electrical Engineering and the Electric Service Departments. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Cornelia Georgia Hensley; and brother and sister-in-law, Elwood and Frances Hensley. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Corinne Hensley, of Cloverdale, Calif., and Wendell and Marie Hensley, of Blacksburg; three grandchildren, Wendy Gibson, Tracy McDowell and Randy Hensley; three greatgrandchildren; and sister-inlaw, Martha Kiser, of Mt. Sidney, Va. Private burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 10, 2009, from 4 to 6 p.m. followed by a Masonic service at 6 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, S.W., Blacksburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg Rescue Squad, 200 Progress Street, N.E., Blacksburg, Va. 24060.
