Hilda Hypes Decker, of Newport, went to her heavenly home Monday, January 25, 2016, at Kroontje Health Care Center. She was born in Abney, WVa on December 6, 1922 to the late Henry Clarence and May Heavener Hypes and was preceded in death by her husband Charles D. Decker, Brothers William (Bill), Virgil (Pete), and Kelly Hypes.

She graduated from Newport High School, and Jefferson School of Nursing. She lived in Buena Vista, Va. for 62 years and worked for Burlington Industries in Glasgow, Va for 32 years as an occupational health nurse and retired in 1985 after 32 years of service. Attended Stone Church of the Brethren with her husband, but was baptized in and a member of the Newport Lutheran Church. She returned to Newport in 2000 and attended Oak View Christian Church of Newport and Blacksburg Christian Church of Blacksburg.

She is survived by sisters Frances, Dorothy Jean and Ruth Hypes of Newport. nephews Allen Hypes and wife Tammy of Blacksburg, Eddie Hypes and wife Robin of Newport, nieces Kathy Pennington and husband John of Blacksburg, Lisa Sachs and Husband Gordie of Christiansburg, and Tammy Olinger and husband J.D. of Blacksburg, Linda Fisher and husband Jim of Callaway, and Barbara Monie and husband Wayne of Scottsdale, Arizona and great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 29, 2016 at 11:00 am at the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary McCoy officiating. Graveside service will follow Friday at 2:00 pm in Green Hill Cemetery, Buena Vista. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Thursday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg, VA.
