Mr. Melvin Artis DeBerry, quietly passed away on Tuesday, October, 20, 2009, surrounded by his family. Melvin was born on January 26, 1930, in Lowe, W.Va., to the late Caleb and Cornelia Kennedy DeBerry. Melvin is predeceased by his wife, Doris Elizabeth Lemmons; sisters, Montrolia Moore and Della Ve Jones; brothers, Ernest and Curtis DeBerry; six brother-in-laws; a sister-in-law; and his mother and father-in-law, William and Agnes Montana. He leaves to remember him always his daughter, Gail Antoinette DeBerry Gordon; son-in-law, Juan Alberto Gordon; grandchildren, Jonathan Whitfield and Erika Elizabeth Gordon; two sisters, Hazel Hubbard and Marie Venable; sister -in-laws, Odean DeBerry, Ellen Davis, Christine “Pasty” Banks, Gail and Elease Lemmons; brother-in-laws, Algie Moore, Lewis Hubbard, Rufus Banks Sr. and Fredrick Lemmons. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Randolph Avenue United Methodist Church, Pulaski, Va. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
