Dean, Mary Turney

Mary Kathryn Turney Dean, 87, of Pulaski, went home to Heaven on Monday, December 16, 2013. She was born in Austinville, Virginia on January 28, 1926 to the late William D. and Mary Jane Jones Turney.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Boyce Macklin Dean and son Stanley McLaine Dean, and siblings and their spouses, Luther and Mozelle (Turney) King, Bill and Joanne (Turney) Dennis, Lee and Aileen Turney, Billy and Polly Turney and brother-in-law Bill Ward.

She is survived by her daughter Yvonne Dean Semones, son and daughter-in-law Curtis and Marianne Dean, daughter Mary Ann Dean, son Alan Dean, and daughter and son-in-law Lynn (Dean) and Curtis Dietrich, as well as her sister Ruby Ward of Max Meadows, sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Donald Frazier of Ridgeway and brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Charlotte Turney of Ridgeway. She was “Nana” to grandsons Chris, Allen, Scott, and Barry Semones, Joel Monroe, and Ryan Dean, as well as fourteen great-grandchildren.

She was a devoted servant of God, her family and her church, Grace Ministries Church of God of Prophecy. She was loved by numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends Thursday, December 19th from 5-7 p.m. at Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Dan Lawson officiating. A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, at the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wythe County.
