DEAN, George Boston Jr.

George Boston Dean, Jr. departed this life Tuesday morning June 6, 2006 at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. Born in Eggleston Springs, Virginia on April 12, 1932 he was a son of the late George B. Dean, Sr. and Fannie May Milton Dean.

He was a member of Pearisburg First Baptist Church, had worked at New River Tannery, Elmac, Klopman Mills and Celanese Acetate in Narrows where he retired after fourteen years of service. He also had a small engine and welding business at his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Delores Davis Dean, a sister Annabell V. Parks, two brothers Jessie Allen and Bernard L. Dean, two brothers-in-law Robert Thornton and Melvin Chapman, and a step-son Fairbanks L. Dean.

He leaves to mourn his loss a brother and caregiver William Dean and friend Dorene Merix of Pearisburg; two sisters Mary D. Thornton of Pearisburg and Betty D. Chapman of Lindside, WV; a dear aunt, Laura Beck of Pembroke; a step-son Douglas Leon Dean; a step-daughter Alma Edna Dean; three grandchildren Marissa, Jon, and Jonnetta; a foster-son Tony Peoples; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 to 9 PM.
