Davis, Thomas Eldridge

Thomas Eldridge “Tommy” Davis, age 80 of Newport and formerly of Blacksburg died Saturday, September 21, 2013, at his home. He was born on July 20, 1933 to the late Adworn T. “Ab” and Margaret Dowdy Davis. He retired from Kroger’s after 44 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife, of 60 years, Margaret Vaught Davis, brother, Robert L. “Bob” and Geneva Davis. Children, Vickie and Glenn Sharp, of Hazard, KY, Karon and Gary Pearman, of Pearisburg, Sharon Davis, of Christiansburg, Gary Thomas and Susan Davis, of Eustis, FL, Shelby and Gary Smith, of Blacksburg, nine grandchildren, Brian Smith, Christie and Ishmael Portillo, Stacie and Nicholas Boehme, Jennifer and Dacker Combs, Michael Davis, Jason and Rebecca Pearman, Todd and Miranda Smith, Crystal and Daryn Pigman, Megan and Jason Pippin, fourteen great-grandchildren, Haley, Madison, Dawson, Ethan, Emma, Tyler, Ellie, Tanner, Grant, Natalie, Bailey, Tucker, Sawyer, and Hailey. The family would like to thank Jennifer and Cecily, of Southern Care Hospice, for the special care that was shown. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Slusser’s Chapel Church of God, with the Rev. Richard Gilbert officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8:00 pm Monday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
