Walter Steven Davis, Sr., 68, of Riverbend Lane, Pembroke, VA, departed this life Sunday morning, February 11, 2018, at his home. Born in Bluefield, WV on February 27, 1949, he was a son of the late Basil C. and Edith Fields “Brownie” Davis.

Steve joined the Giles County Life Saving and Rescue Squad when he was fifteen years old and served faithfully for over fifty years. He was a lifetime member and Hall of Fame member of the VAVRS. As a youth he was baptized into the Christian faith in Narrows. He was retired from the Celanese Plant and The State of Virginia Health Dept, was a member of the Celco Fire Brigade and Giles County Hazmat Team.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 25 years Bonnie Brannock Davis; his sons and daughters-in-law Steven Davis Jr. and Amy of Pembroke, Scott Davis and Denise of Pembroke, Stuart Davis and Katie of Pembroke; his daughters Sara Midkiff of Narrows and Kaitlin Davis of Pembroke; his brothers Doug Davis and wife Donna of Pembroke and Mark Davis of El Paso, TX; his grandchildren Adarah, Lance, Jada, Sunnie, Sloan, Misty, Michael, Josh, Kayleigh, Lillian (Lilli); his great-grandchildren Autumn, Shianne, Michael Dale, Madisyn, and McKade; the mother of his children Steven, Scott, Stuart, and Sara, Karen Hale Davis; his special brother-in-law Alvin Brannock and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 pm in the Pembroke First United Methodist Church with Pastor Eddie Kendall and Neil Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday evening from 5 until 8 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Giles County Life Saving and Rescue Squad, 175 Industrial Drive, Pearisburg 24134.
