Evelyn Sweeney Davis, 92, of Blacksburg, went to be with her Lord, Sunday, January 18, 2009. She was born in Montgomery County, Va. on March 4, 1916 to the late Lacy Gratton and Verna Guynn Sweeney and was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie Encil Davis, a daughter, Grace Mattox, and by three sisters, Ruth Harman, Normagene Price and Bobbie Criner and four brothers, Willard Sweeney, Clarence Sweeney, Howard Sweeney and infant Littleton Guynn. She is survived by two grandchildren, Kenneth and Debora Gaborik, of Blacksburg, Tamara Tallent, of Covington, Ga.; six great-grandchildren, Kendra and Jimmy Holcomb, of Pulaski, David Caldwell, of Blacksburg, Tiffany and Joe Allinson, of Roanoke, Tara Curfman, Heather Curfman, both of Ohio, Jason Curfman, of Covington, Ga.; Lucas Graham, that she considered a great-grandchild; and eight great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Everett Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in the North Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, Ellett. The family will receive friends from Wednesday from 12 noon until service time at the church.
