davis_ernest_caudellErnest Caudell Davis, 80, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, while surrounded by his loving family in Staffordsville, Va. He was born on October 3, 1930, in Pax, W.Va., to the late Van Trigg Davis and Roberta Virginia Albert Davis. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Van Trigg Davis Jr.; and one sister, Ruby Davis Johnston. Ernest was a faithful member of Eatons Chapel United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, adult teacher and song leader. He proudly served as a paramedic in the United States Army in the Korean Conflict. Left to cherish his beloved memory is his loving wife of 56 years, Ruby Johnston Davis; his children, Joan and Ricky Johnston, of Pembroke, Va., Jean and Richard Hall, of Staffordsville, Va., and Kathy and Carroll Perdue, of Staffordsville, Va.; one special granddaughter, Leslie Perdue; four grandsons, Chris Perdue, Rickie Lee Johnston and wife, Amy, Ryan Johnston and Ben Hall; a sister-in-law, Anna Sue Davis; three step grandchildren; six stepgreatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, October 15, 2010, at Eatons Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jack Jenkins and Charlie Henderson officiating. Military Graveside Rites at Eatons Chapel Church Cemetery by Narrows VFW Post #6000, Narrows American Legion Post #68 and Pembroke American Legion Post #311. Visitation will be held at Eatons Chapel U.M.C. on Thursday, October 14, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Eatons Chapel Church, Sunday School & Community Fund, c/o Mrs. Frankie Wilson, 3085 Pulaski-Giles Turnpike, Pearisburg, Va. 24134.
