amem_winterscene.jpgBuford F. Davis 76, of Pulaski, Va., quietly and peacefully slipped away to eternal rest January 21, 2007 at Lewis-Gale Medical Center with his family by his side.

He was born September 16, 1930 in Pulaski County to the late Charles Raymond and Gladys H. Davis. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served as Corporal in the Medical Corp. during the Korean War conflict.

He co-owned and operated Dublin Road Exxon with his brother, Charles R. Davis, Jr. for 20 years. He went on to work at Hudson Chevrolet until his retirement.

He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved fishing, gardening, working outside and cutting wood. Mr. Davis was a member of New Hope Baptist Chapel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Charles R. Davis, Jr. and wife Jean 0. Davis, brother, Samuel Douglas Davis, sister, Shirley D. Vickers, a brother-in-law, Blake Carter, and a son-in-law, Thomas E. Primm.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Berton D. Davis; his daughter and son-in-law, Anita D. and Coby Fizer of Christiansburg, Va., daughter and caregiver, Cynthia D. Primm; son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Tammy Davis, all of Pulaski; three grandchildren, Candice D. and husband Jeremy Draper, India A. Fizer, and Jacob A. Davis. Also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Karen Davis of Roanoke; a sister, Doris Carter of Pulaski; and a brother-in-law, Harold Vickers of Roanoke. Many nieces and nephews also survive him.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will he held Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Chapel with Pastor Terry Henley and Pastor Mike Brummitt officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, Va. All arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
