Davidson, Mary Elizabeth

Mary Elizabeth Davidson, 90, of Pearisburg, Va. and formerly from Bluefie1d, Va., passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at her home from complications of Alzheimers disease.

She was born June 21, 1916 and was a daughter of the late Newton Benton Stevenson and Mary Elizabeth White Stevenson. She was a member of the Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church and was a former employee at Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield, Va. for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oakley Davidson, an infant son, also a son, Bunny Davidson and a grandson, Lance McNew and by three sisters and five brothers. She is survived by daughters, Margaret, Blacksburg, Va., Betty Kelly and husband John, Pearisburg, Va.; son, Oakie Davidson and wife Sandra, Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; sisters, Clara Ewald, Asheville, N.C., Louise Wyatt, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express thanks to Debra Mann of Carilion Hospice, with whom she had bonded, and all the other nurses, the Chaplain, Tom Rice and also Dr. Devereaux and Dr. Johnson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, Va. with the Rev. Cinda Baxter officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Davidson, Kenny Davidson, Bryan Kelly, Johnny Kelly, Oakey McNew and Brandon Kelly. The family will receive friends Saturday, one hour prior to services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Carilion Hospice Services, New River Valley, 707 Randolph Street, Suite 251, Radford, Va. 24141. Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
