Daniels, Eloise Lewis

Eloise Lewis Daniels, 91, of Blacksburg, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2011, in Fredericksburg, Va. She was born Myra Eloise Lewis in Bath, N.C., on November 15, 1919. She graduated valedictorian from Belle Haven High School and attended UNC Greensboro. She retired from civil service at the Norfolk Naval Base. She moved to Blacksburg in 1990 and was active in the RSVP, AARP and NARFE. She was a member of Blacksburg UMC. She is survived by son, James Lewis Daniels and daughterin-law, Carolyn Daniels, of Fredericksburg; daughter, Terry Daniels Smusz and son-in-law, Ted Smusz, of Blacksburg; granddaughter, Emily Smusz, of Lake City, Mich.; grandson, Ian Smusz, of Washington, DC; stepgrandson, Steven Lowry, of Fredericksburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Other “family” close to Eloise include Tina Smusz, Mark, Jacob and Emma Hileman, Ted and Peggy Smusz, Sharon and Leo Sebolt and Terry Krauss. The family wishes to extend appreciation to Skyline Nursing and Carilion Hospice; special friend and caregiver, Gwen Purcell; Linda Hypes and staff; the Rev. Reggie Tuck and Mary Ann Cass; and the Murril Bible Class of BUMC. Services will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2011, in Morehead City, N.C., Munden Funeral Home.
