Ruth Meredith Dalton, 82, of Dublin, Virginia, died Tuesday morning, January 9, 2007 in the New River Valley Medical Center, Radford.

She was born in Giles County on July 15, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Philip Meredith and Allie Mae Calwell Meredith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Anderson Dalton, two sisters, Thelma Broyles and Dorothy Porterfield and by one brother, Eugene Meredith.

She was a retired employee of RAAP and a member of the Dublin Baptist Church and a member of the Dublin Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Carroll Brown, Huddleston, Va., Carson and Diane Dalton, Dublin, Va., Charles “Chuck” and Susan Dalton, West Bend, Wis.; daughters and sons-in-law, Estelle and JC White, Mt. Airy, N.C., Faye and Larry Brooks, Riner, Va.; grandchildren and spouses, Janet and Jimmy Stewart, Siloam, N.C., Jay and Doris White, Mt. Airy, N.C., Aprile and Chris Thompson, Lexington, N.C., Michelle Brooks, Riner, Va., Bryan Brown and Rosetta Millora-Brown, Fairfax Station, Va., Bethany and Charley Butcher, Fishersville, Va., Summer and Lance Jamison, Travers City, Mich., Jeremy Dalton, Milwaukee, Wis., Bradley Dalton, Dublin, Va., Darren Dalton, Dublin, Va., Ashley Dalton, West Bend, Wis. Nicole Dalton, West Bend, Wis.; great-grandchildren, Cole Stewart, Casy Dee White, Sabra White, Quinten Millora-Brown, Alexandra Millora-Brown, Megan Butcher, Autumn Demski, Kyle Butcher, Bryce Jamison, Nathan Thompson and Kinley Thompson; sisters, Alice Mann and Clara Kinsey; brothers, William Meredith and Buford Meredith; many nieces, nephews and numerous friends and neighbors that she loved.

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Michael Collins officiating. Visiting will be Thursday from 5:30 p.m. until the service hour. A graveside service will be Friday at 10 a.m. from Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the Dublin Fire Dept., PO Box 699, Dublin, Virginia 24084.
