Dalton, Robert Roscoe

Robert Roscoe Dalton, 93, of Curve Road in Pearisburg, departed this life Monday, April 28, 2008, at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg.

Born in Pulaski County on October 5, 1914, he was a son of the late William Sanders and Mary Rankins Dalton. Robert was a self-employed mechanic and logger and a member of Pembroke Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Frances Dalton; brothers, Jack, William and Walter Dalton; and sisters, Josie Phelps, Ethel Meadows, Ida Chester and Fannie Browning.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Julia Shepherd Dalton; his daughters and son-in-law, Emma Meadows and Alice Kibler, both of Pearisburg, and Millie and Roy Keith, of Petersburg, Va.; his sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Carol Dalton, of Alexandria, Va., and William and Betty Dalton, of Dublin, Va.; his grandchildren, Steve, Greg and Brian Dalton, Kim and Gene Dalton, Lynn Adkins, Michelle Martin, Jeff Meadows, Rene Kellison and Eric King; greatgrandchildren, Steven and Adam Dalton, Carl and Randy Collins, Allen, Donald and Christina Kellison; great-greatgrandchildren, Payton and Haleigh Collins, and Johnathon Kellison; and his brother, David Sanders Dalton, of Peterstown, W.Va.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2008, in The Pembroke Assembly of God Church on Virginia Ave. in Pembroke with the Rev. Terry Eversole, the Rev. Leon Goad, Pastor Eddie Kendall and the Rev. Chris Branch officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
