Rema I. Dalton, age 84, passed away in Marin County, CA, December 19, 2007 from heart problems.

Rema was born on June 3, 1923 in Sunbright, TN. Two years later she was adopted by Byrd and Artie Thompson. They moved to Pulaski, VA when she was a teenager. There she attended school, met, and married John Dalton in 1941. They had a son, Starrett, in 1942.

In 1955 they moved to Chesterton, Indiana where they remained until John’s death on September 7, 2001. John died about 2 weeks short of their 60th wedding anniversary. In 2001 Rema moved to Tiburon, California to live with her son, Starrett and his wife Nancy. They had six wonderful years together.

She was predeceased by her mother and father, her brother-in-laws Friel and Clyde Dalton and Don Ayers and by her sister-in-laws Irma Dalton, and Mildred Ayers.

She is survived by her son Starrett and his wife Nancy, her bother in law Houston Dalton, her nieces Linda Dalton, , Lana Kurfman (Dalton) Cindy Wilson(Ayers) and , Susan Nadatowski (Ayers) and her nephews: Clyde Dalton, and Mike Ayers. She is also survived by a half sister Agnes Murry of Memphis Tennessee, and her nephew Jim Murry and niece Karen Holden of the Memphis area.

Her ashes will be buried next to her husband John, in Chesterton, Indiana. Memorial donations may be made to the Marin Community Health Foundation, Cardiology MGH, POB 8010, San Rafael, CA 94912.
