Essie Maureen Branscome Dalton, 57, of Floyd, Va., passed away on Monday, October 29, 2007 at Duke Medical Center, Durham, N.C. Maureen was a local artist most notably known for her rock painting.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Dennis Stilwell; special granddaughter, Holly Rose Stilwell, all of Willis; parents, Cody and Irmyl Branscome of Indian Valley; brother, John Michael Branscome of Indian Valley; sisters and brothersin-law, Lois and Gerald Bond of Indian Valley and Janet and Ted Hudson of Chatham, Va.; former spouse and friend, Alvin Dalton; niece, Heather Little and husband, Jeff, of Raleigh, N.C.; nephews, Allen Bond and wife, Missy, of Indian Valley and Jeremy Cox and wife, Lauren, of Chesterfield, Va.; aunts, Laura Branscome, Guida Branscome and Doris Reece; several cousins; and many special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2007 at Pine Grove Baptist Church, Dugspur, Va. with the Rev. Allan Vass and the Rev. Dr. Allen Cherry officiating with interment to follow at the Quesenberry Family Cemetery, Shady Grove Road.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at Maberry Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made in Maureen’s memory to Little River Baptist Church, 2449 Floyd Hwy. North, Floyd, Va. 24091. Arrangements by Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd, Va.
