Dalton, Mary Kathleen (Kate)
On October 23, 2012, Mary Kathleen (Kate) Dalton, of Pulaski, was called home to the Lord after 95 years of serving him in life. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Pulaski, with the Rev. Hugh Kilgore officiating. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Dublin. The family will receive friends preceding the service from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church. Born to Kennedy and Cora Morton on August, 23, 1917, Kate grew up on a farm in West Virginia with nine brothers and sisters. After meeting and marrying her first husband, Lou Moffitt, she moved to Pulaski, where she would spend most of her life. She would marry twice more, to George Umansky and Cosne Dalton, all of which are there to receive her in heaven along with many brothers, sisters, family and friends. Kate had been living with her son and his wife, Phil and Carol Umansky, in Midlothian for the last few years where she attended Woodlake United Methodist Church in continuance of her commitment to the Lord. She was very active in many clubs and organizations throughout her life, including years of service to the First United Methodist Church of Pulaski, DAR, VFW, Womens Auxilary and many others. Kate treated everyone as if they were special to her and made them feel loved and respected like very few people can do. She will be remembered for her gentle kindness, her loving demeaner, and her dedication to her family, her country, and her Lord. She leaves behind the following immediate family, her daughter, Betty Sue Justice; her son and his wife, Dr. and Mrs. Phillip G Umansky; grandsons, Paul, Dale, and Scott Ferguson; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Adam, Katie and DJ Ferguson; great-great-grandchildren, Paul Blake and Preston; sister, Irene Buckland; and brothers, Alfred Morton and Elmer Morton. She was preceded in passing by her parents, Kennedy and Cora Morton; brothers, Jennings Morton, Sheldon Morton, John Morton, and Claude Morton; and sisters, Loiuse Martin and Helen Fortner. Many other family and friends, too numerous to list but no less important to her, will also be there to receive her. The family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and condolences. In lieu of flowers the family also wishes that donations be made to her church, The First United Methodist Church of Pulaski, or a charity in her name as she would want to continue to help others before receiving anything for herself. Always selfless and giving in life, this would be her wish in passing. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
