Dalton, Donald Nelson

Donald Nelson Dalton, age 73 of Claytor Lake, Dublin, died early Monday morning March 7, 2011 at his residence. He was born May 16, 1937 in Newbern and was the son of the late Minnie Hazel Lyons Dalton and Archie Harless Dalton.

He was a retired banker with Suntrust Bank, was a member of the First Christian Church (DOC) Radford, and was a veteran of the National Guard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother John Ed Dalton. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Gray Dalton: a son; Ronald Nelson Dalton of Orlando, FL: two daughters; Angela D. Collins of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Annette D. Holcombe of Timmonsville, SC: a sister; Mrs. Duane “Mary Sue” Pace of Pulaski. Also survived by six grandchildren: Lauren Dalton, Kendall Dalton, Mackenzie Collins, Catherine Collins, Jake Holcombe, and Max Holcombe, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Thursday March 10, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church (DOC) in Radford, with the Rev. Gina Rhea officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the First Christian Church (DOC) 400 Tyler Avenue, Radford, Virginia 24141.
