Custer, Wilmer Rudolph
GONE, BUT NOT FORGOTTEN Our lives will not be the same without you in it. Wilmer Rudolph Custer, 71, of Blacksburg, Va., went to be with the Lord and his family and friends who preceded him on Wednesday, March 25, 2009.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Mary Heath and her husband, Jim Heath, a very special stepfather to their children; daughters, Debra Marlene Custer and Mildred Lynn Custer and her fiance, Carl Linkous; sons, Robert Rudolph Custer and wife, Kaye Custer, James Richard Custer and Thomas Eugene Custer; 11 grandchildren, Brad Meredith, Bobby and Ashley Custer, Chris and Casey Barker, Destiny Custer, Zach, Alex, Michael, Haleigh and Hannah Custer; three great-grandchildren, Colleen Meredith, Conner Custer and Autumn Grace Perkins; brothers, Alfred J.R. Custer, Ricky and Teresa Sheppard, and Doug and Bonnie Sheppard; sisters, Mary Price and Carol and John Cadle; sisters-in-law, Nancy Custer and Zelma Custer; special friends, Bud Porterfield and L. R. Price; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Montgomery Regional Hospital 4th floor staff for all their help and concern. Also many thanks to William H. Price and family for their support through this difficult and sad time.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2009, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmie Lee Price, the Rev. Jerry Buckner, and the Rev. Jube Burk officiating. Interment will follow in the Snider Cemetery, Prices Fork. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday evening, March 26, 2009, at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg, Va.
