Karen Lois Gray Boland Cupp (Bunny), 54, of Christiansburg, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 8, 2007, after fighting a tremendous battle with cancer.

Karen was born October 12, 1953 to Geraldine Boland and the late Felix L. Boland, Jr., of Radford. Surviving is her husband of 20 years, Michael R. Cupp; her children, Sumar Cupp and Mechelle Cupp of Christiansburg; children by marriage, Cindy Cupp Slusher and husband, Billy of Radford, Michael W. Cupp of Georgia and David Cupp and wife, Tammy of Christiansburg; grandchildren by marriage, Michael Slusher of Florida, Amanda Slusher, Stephine Slusher and Randy Cupp of Christiansburg; great-grandchild by marriage, J.J. Slusher of Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Nyoka and Jon Albert of Christiansburg; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lynn and Rita Boland and Craig and Kim Boland of Radford; mother-in-law, Catherine Cupp of Christiansburg; five sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles and longtime friends.

Karen worked the majority of her life keeping children in her home and was “Mother” to many many more who were in her care from birth until they were old enough to no longer need a sitter. She will always be remembered for her loving and caring ways. Karen was a very gentle person with a kind heart and always showed compassion for others.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 12, 2007, at DeVilbiss Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Bond officiating. Visitation will take place immediately prior to the funeral, from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. In lieu of flowers, donations will be used to offset expenses and checks may be made payable to DeVilbiss Funeral Chapel with the memo line reading “Karen Boland Cupp”.

The family would like to thank Dr. Scribner and his staff from Carilion, who have provided such wonderful care to Karen over the past three years and to the Carilion Hospice staff for their loving care, as well.
