Cumbee, Roy Lee

Roy Lee Cumbee, 86, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, August 14, 2008, at his home. He was born in Giles County, Va. on July 2, 1922, to the late Gilbert Lee and Vernie Breeden Cumbee.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Elizabeth Cumbee. He is survived by his wife, Lois Hunter Cumbee, of Blacksburg; his son, Gilbert Cumbee and Ann Cox, of Dublin; two grandchildren, Jennifer Horne and husband, Joe, and Nathan Cumbee and girlfriend, Becky Peters; five greatgrandchildren, Hannah Martin, Kayla Horne, Kylie Peters, Alex Peters, and Cameron Harlow; three sisters, Roxie Holder, Nellie Snider and Kathleen Alls; special friends, David, Kim and Kathleen Cox; special ex-daughter-in-law, Fran Cumbee.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, August 16, 2008, at 2 p.m. in the North Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, Ellett, with the Rev. Rador Vaden officiating. Friends may call any time after noon and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, Blacksburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Medi Home Health and Hospice, 5369 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, Va. 24019 or Blacksburg Rescue Squad, 200 Progress Street, NE, Blacksburg, Va. 24060.
