Cumbee, Ronnie Lee

Ronnie Lee Cumbee, 62, of Ellen St. in Pembroke departed this life Friday afternoon November 9, 2007 at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg.

Born in Pembroke on July 5, 1945 he was a son of the late Charles Chapman and Edith Irene Carter Cumbee. He had been employed at Terrace View Apartments in Blacksburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Richard Lee and Winfred Cumbee.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 37 years Betty Lee Williams Cumbee; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Faye Cumbee of Pembroke, Brenda and Allen Niece of Pearisburg, Mary and Tony Tolliver of Roanoke; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny Gene and Pam Tawney of Charleston, W.Va., Mickey Gene Tawney of Pembroke, Roger Lee and Peggy Tawney of Southside, W.Va., Barry Wayne Tawney of Glen Lyn; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Poncho and Debbie Cumbee of Blacksburg, Walter and Juanita Cumbee of Hoges Chapel, Robert Cumbee of Pembroke; sisters, Georgia and Berman Hughes of Pembroke, Elizabeth Harless of Rocky Gap, Freda Sanders of Pembroke, Mary and Boyce Kessinger of Rich Creek, Anna Sue and Buddy Cumbee of Pembroke; sisters-in-law, Birdie S. Cumbee of Pembroke and Anita Cumbee of Rich Creek; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in The Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in the Fillinger Cemetery at Pembroke.
