Cumbee, Lida Bail

Lida Bail Cumbee, 97, of Blacksburg, died Monday, January 23, 2006 at the New River Valley Medical Center. She was born in Giles County on October 2, 1908. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Cumbee; two sons, Calvin Randolph Cumbee and Alfred Mason Cumbee; two daughters, Marie Cumbee Janney and Beulah Cumbee Shaver; and a grandson, Charles (Chucky) Janney.

She is survived by her daughter, Maybell Cumbee Dooley, Bedford; four sons, Roy M. Cumbee and friend, Madeline, Wytheville, C. Richard Cumbee and wife, Barbara, Pilot, Thomas E. Cumbee, Radford, and David C. Cumbee and wife, Dorothy, Pulaski; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great -grandchildren; special friends, Jerry and Freda Buckner.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 27, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Buckner and the Rev. Jube Burk officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. Friends may call anytime after 12 noon Wednesday and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, S.W., Blacksburg.
