Cumbee, Hazel Marie

Hazel Marie Cumbee, 62 of Pembroke departed this life Wednesday, May 27, 2020, in the care of family and Carilion New River Valley Medical Center after a courageous battle with Cancer. Born February 24, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Minnie Martin Cumbee.

Hazel enjoyed her life she made in Food Service Management at Sub Station 2. The joy of her life however was spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Carolyn Woodson, Sandra Smith, and Brenda Martin; and a brother, Robert Cumbee.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Tina Cumbee of Pembroke, VA, and Jennifer Dowdy of Pembroke (Paul); sisters, Mary Helen Griggs of Pearisburg, VA, and Doris May of Newport; grandchildren, Katlyn Smith, MaKenzie Woolwine, Makenna Dowdy, Eli Dowdy, Tanner Dowdy, and Ryder Bailey; and great-grandchildren, SkyLynn Smith and Brayleigh Smith.

There will be a funeral service for Hazel on Friday, May 29, 2020 at 7:00 PM at the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel. Family will receive friends in the Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, May 29, 2020.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Kendall Funeral Home (605 Snidow St Pembroke, VA) to offset funeral expenses in Hazel’s memory.
