Beverly Brandford (B.B.) Crute, 80, of Christiansburg, died on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at his residence. He had been in declining health for the past six months. Born on April 16, 1931, in Coalwood, W.Va., he was the son of the late Aubrey Bransford Crute and Pearl Beale Crute. Mr. Crute was a veteran, serving in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1955. He graduated in Machine Design from Danville Technical Institute, Danville, Va., and began his lengthy career as a Tool and Die Maker. Mr. Crute retired from Wolverine Gasket Company in 1997, where he was employed as a Tool and Die Maker Supervisor for 19 years. On September 13, 1952, he married the “love of his life,” Edith Long Crute, who survives him. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mona Jean Crute, of Christiansburg, Va., and Kathy C. Hill (Jeff); two grandchildren, Jennifer H. Reilly (Chris) and Steven R. Hill; two great-grandchildren, Liam J. Reilly and Collin J. Reilly, all of Wallingford, Conn.; three sisters, Nannie C. Weaver (Jack), of South Boston, Va., Alice C. Glass (Kenneth), of Walstonburg, N.C., and Jane C. Turner (Walter), of Oxford, N.C.; one brother, C. Samuel “Sammy” Crute, of Hurdle Mills, N.C.; and one aunt, Blanche B. Booker, of Gretna, Va. Mr. Crute was predeceased by one brother, Charles D. Crute. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Crute leaves behind two very special companions, his dog, “Missy,” and cat, “Buster.” They brought him much joy over the years and comforted him during his recent illness. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2011, at Horne Funeral Service, 1300 N. Franklin Street, Christiansburg, Va. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and at other times, they will be at the residence. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 2880 North Franklin Street, Christiansburg, Va.
